I just wanted to say that Tie Domi will be missed in hockey. I’m not a fan of the Leafs, but I enjoyed watching Tie play. Tie had the look that he enjoyed what he was doing, that he was enjoying himself on and off the ice, he wasn’t in it for the money, but for the love of the game.

I’m not really a hockey fan, but I’ve always been a fan of yours because you kicked butt and didn’t take crap from nobody. Good luck and best wishes.

You should play with the Montreal Canadiens. I will pay your salary….well 100k if you play for them for 1 season.
I guess nothing’s forever. You were scrappy, you were effective. You left a lot of heart on the ice. I suspect you’re going to leave that heart in the broadcast booth now. I look forward to seeing you do your new job. (Don’t make me pissed off). Good luck in the transition.
Dear Tie,
First let me say that the Leafs will lose something special now that you are no longer with them. However, I am happy for you that you are now going to have more time to enjoy your life and your family.
Please pass along my best wishes to Tie in his retirement. While I’m a lifelong Habs and Devils fan I thoroughly enjoyed watching Tie play all these seasons, I really respect a grinder.. especially in a day where professional sports are filled with prima donnas who got on the DL for a hangnail… it seems hockey is one of the few sports left where a player will say tape it up and get me back out there… and Tie exemplified that!
I will miss seeing you this year. Thanks for the great years of hockey and for your giving back to the community. Although I am a long time Habs fan — I have admired and respected a number of Leaf Players over the years — and you are one of my favourites.

We’re going to miss you. From your first training camp when you broke your hand on John Kordic’s head to your last game with the blue and white – you always gave it your all.
The Toronto Maple Leafs placed veteran winger Tie Domi on waivers this morning, which clears the way for the team to buy him out of the final year of his contract tomorrow. Players must be placed on waivers in order to be bought out. If Domi clears waivers – which will happen – by noon tomorrow when the NHL’s free agency period begins, he will become an unrestricted free agent, meaning any team may sign him without compensation to the Leafs.
“We want to thank Tie for his many years of service to the organization,” said GM John Ferguson in a press release. “He became a fan favourite for a reason and we wish him well in the years ahead.”
