As exciting as Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alex Mogilny is on the ice, he's as realistic off it.

"We have a lot of ways to improve," Mogilny said after a dazzling performance in a 4-1 win against the Washington Capitals Saturday night.

"There are a lot of games ahead of us and we can't worry about what happened in the first couple of games.

"I'm sure you have heard this every time we speak but we have a veteran club, we know what we have to do and I think we are going to get better."

TIE STEPS IN:
He doesn't drop his gloves to fight as much as he once did but Tie Domi remains a willing combatant. Especially if it's to stand up for a teammate. Domi immediately engaged Jason Doig of the Capitals in a fight during the first period on Saturday after the latter plowed over rookie Matt Stajan.

"I am happy to take care of my teammates any time I have to," Domi said. "It's still part of my job. Matty is a good kid and I am not going to let anyone push him around."
