Tie
Domi makes sure that each child in the hostels receives
a gift for Christmas
Toronto
Maple Leaf tough guy, Tie Domi, reveals a softer side with
his significant involvement in the 7th annual Santa on
Wheels charity program. The charity benefits a very
tragic and undeserved segment of our community...kids who
find themselves homeless in shelters and hostels throughout
the city. Domi has personally donated over 25,000 gifts
over the last 6 years to ensure that EVERY child in a hostel
gets a gift for Christmas.
Every
year, thousands of kids though no fault of their own, find
themselves having to cope with the stresses and upset of
losing their home, their friends, their schools, their way
of life. These children fall though the cracks of other
gift giving initiatives, as you need an address to qualify
for many of the programs. Santa on Wheels ensures
that kids at their greatest time of need don't miss out
on the innocence and joy that Christmas can bring.
Mr.
Domi has quietly been doing his part to support this program
for years. Each year about 100 of these "forgotten"
kids are treated to a Leafs practice at the ACC and then
get to meet their favorite players. After this memorable
experience, the kids get their Christmas gifts from Santa.
Mr. Domi, in association with Professional Sports Source
Inc. has spent $100,000 to make this event a success. This
year the kids will be bused down to the ACC on December
10th.
Tie
Domi's Santa on Wheels is also working with the Toronto
Maple Leafs on a T-shirt program. Purchase a Toronto Maple
Leafs T-shirt and $3.00 from every purchase will go directly
to Tie Domi's Santa on Wheels program. Shirts can
be purchased at ACC at any game and throughout participating
sponsors locations. Check local Media for further details
or call the Air Canada Centre.
Because
of the increased need this season, Tie Domi is asking the
public to rally behind the Santa on Wheels program to "Give
a kid a Christmas". This year over 1000 kids will benefit
from the Santa on Wheels program.
