If the NHL season is cancelled, Tie Domi may find himself riding shotgun in Sweden for teammate Mats Sundin.
Domi said yesterday that he and Sundin have an open invitation to join Djurgarden of the Swedish Elite League this season. Domi said he would have to think long and hard about leaving his family for three months, but said it is an option he may pursue.
"A lot of teams have called from Europe," said Domi, who was being pursued by a team called the Newcastle Vipers in England. "But I've already decided that if I play, it will be in Djurgarden with Mats. I'm a little reluctant to do it, but it's an option for both of us."
Domi is part of the Primus Worldstars Tour that kicks off a two-week stint tomorrow night with a game in Latvia.
Sundin took part in Brendan Shanahan's hockey summit yesterday and will join the team in Moscow on Saturday.
Domi said he'll likely play on a line with Sundin and Sergei Fedorov, but isn't intimidated by playing with such talent.
"Look at the stats from last year's training camp (which was held in Europe)," Domi said. "I was lighting it up."
