TIE DOMI
Born: Nov. 1, 1969, in
Windsor, Ont.
Acquired: Drafted 27th overall in 1988. Reacquired from the Winnipeg Jets in April 1995.
What he meant to the Leafs: Domi gave the organization a level of toughness and determination that was unparalleled during his era. He willingly fought every tough guy in the league and, until recently, never hesitated to stand up physically for his teammates. He was enormously charitable and will go down as one of the most popular Leafs in history.
By the numbers: Domi's 2,265 penalty minutes with the Leafs is No. 1 all-time and his 3,515 career PIM is No. 3 in the NHL. ... Played 777 games for the Leafs. ... Holds Leaf single-season PIM record with 365. ... Led Leafs in PIM nine times, eight in a row.
Leaf highlight: Scoring 15 goals in 2002-03.
Leaf lowlight: His vicious elbow on Scott Niedermayer in the 2001 playoffs likely lost the Leafs the series against the New Jersey Devils and earned him a lengthy suspension.
