If Maple Leafs winger Tie Domi had realized that his legal troubles could be solved with a handshake and a few playoff tickets, he would have met with Chris Falcone a long time ago.

Falcone was the Philadelphia Flyers fan who sued Domi for $50,000 (all figures U.S.) over an incident in a March 28, 2001 game in which Falcone fell on to Domi when the glass surrounding the penalty box in Philadelphia gave way. Domi punched Falcone at least twice and was fined $1,000.

The lawsuit was thrown out of court in Philadelphia last year. Falcone appealed, but a short meeting and a handshake in the bowels of the Wachovia Center accomplished what three years of effort by lawyers could not. After the meeting in March, Falcone agreed to drop his action and Domi responded by giving him four tickets to Game 4 last night.

Domi's agent, Pat Morris, said the tickets were not part of any type of settlement.

"I wish I would have been able to speak to him in the first place," Domi said. "He's a nice guy, he really is. He has four kids and he works hard. As soon as we met we started laughing about it."

Domi said last night, meanwhile, that he wants the Team 1200 radio station in Ottawa to make a donation to a women's shelter in Ottawa and Toronto and he won't pursue legal action against the station or Don Romani, who accused Domi of abusing his wife. Romani was fired for the comments.
